Brianna honors Brock by winning girls 2006 district cross country title.
''I'm dedicating this whole season to him,'' Brianna said of her brother. ''It was very hard this past week. I haven't really gone to school, and I haven't really slept that well. But I did really good today, and I was happy.''

One Week Later

It has been one week since I have held my precious little gift in my arms. I rejoice knowing that he is in the Lords arms and loving every minute of it. I want everyone to know how thankful and grateful we are to have Brock Latham in our lives. He will forever change us...... I woke up today and thought what can I do to get closer to the Lord?

All this has made me want to do everything I can to see Brock again and the only way we will every see anyone again is if we walk, talk and become more like JESUS.. God has a purpose for all things. Brock was not placed in our care without a purpose. Our family did not do this without purpose. We will spend our days praising the Lord and thanking Him always.

Today we went to church as a family for the first time since March, we looked over and we saw some friends and in that moment we knew one of the many reasons why Brock was placed here for a very short time. We went to him after church and he shared with us something so precious...... He said when he came to Brock's service he felt GOD and he knew he needed to come back. He said when he came today he felt God again... WOW. Thank you Lord!!!!!!

Again, thank you all for the continued support and many prayers.
Please continue to pray for our family.

Still Standing on God's Promises,

Barbara and Kevin Latham
Psalm 106:1
Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; his loves endures forever.

Hello to all our faithful friends. Brock is feeling better. Thank you Lord for being so faithful. He still is a little restless. He also now has a couple of sores on his ear and butt from the meds and edema.

On Sunday Kevin and I were going to send out an e-mail and update everyone on Brock's progress and then he came down with something. So here is the update with all the good stuff......

It will be one year since we came home from the hospital with Brock. As I sit here and reflect all that has happened this past year I feel so blessed. God is faithful God is good all the time......

Brock is growing and now weighs 37.5lbs. Last year when we left the hospital he weighed between 16-18lbs. He is very strong and does put up a fight when you mess with him. It really is amazing to watch him go from doing nothing last year at this time to moving all the time. From being so weak to being so strong. What can we say, God does hear our prayers and he is faithful. Brock also has learned how to squeeze a ball and when he squeezes it hard enough it makes music turn on. Our great friend and nurse Brandy watched Brock last night and she said she thought he was going to fall off the bed he was moving so much. Yeah!!!! She also said she thought he was going to wake up ..... We will thank you in advanced for waking and restoring Brock in Jesus name Amen.
Thank you for all your prayers... We have felt them. Please keep pressing in.

Still Standing on God's Promises,
Barbara and Kevin

---God's timing is not ours but it is the perfect time.
Habakkuk 2:1,3
I will climb up into my watchtower now and wait to see what the Lord will say to me and how he will answer my complaint. But these things I plan won't happen right away. Slowly, steadily, surely, the time approaches when the vision will be fulfilled. If it seems slow, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed.

Psalm 6:2-19
Have compassion on me, Lord, for I am weak.
Heal me, Lord, for my body is in agony.
I am sick at heart.
How long, O Lord, until you restore me?
Return, O Lord, and rescue me.
Save me because of your unfailing love.
For in death, who remembers you?
Who can praise you from the grave?
I am worn out from sobbing.
Every night tears drench my bed; my pillow is wet from weeping.
My vision is blurred by grief; my eyes are worn out because of all my enemies.
Go away, all you who do evil, for the LORD has heard my plea; the LORD will answer my prayer.

Prayer request for Brock and family:09-13-06

Brock has been very sick for a few days now. He has had a fever for three days and he is very dehydrated. If he does not tolerate his pedialyte today we will start him on IV fluids. He did rest well last night for the first time in two days. Thank you Lord for the much needed rest.

We ran some test on Brock last night and will do some more lab work today. As most of you know Kevin and I do all his lab work and take care of his daily needs. So, please pray for strength and wisdom for the both of us. Also, please lift Dr.Steadman up in prayer for wisdom and strength. One last thing the girls know that Brock has not been feeling well so please lift them up as well. Thank you.

Romans 8:3-32
If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all-- won't God, who gave us Christ , also give us all things?

05-08-06 update

Brock continues to do wonderful everyday. He does something new every week and is growing like a weed. He is 39inches tall and weighs 36lbs. Madison who is 5 almost 6 years old weighs the same and is 41inches tall. He has grown 6inches since last May. Praise the Lord!! He gets to go outside when the weather is nice and seems to enjoy it. This past Saturday he went skating with dad.

Thank you Lord for everything you do.....

Tomorrow is a very big day for the Latham family and we would like to invite you to be in prayer throughout your day for Brock. Brock will be turning 4 years old. And this time last year is when the doctors said no more treatment, take Brock home and love him. As I write this I find myself filled with so many emotions just knowing what one year has brought to our lives. Some good, some bad but most of all some wonderful moments. We have learned what the words wait, stand, love and patience truly mean. We have watched our family and friends grow in Christ along with our own growth. We have made many new and awesome friends along the way. We feel so very blessed that God has put each and everyone of you in our lives. As, I close I want everyone that reads this just to sit and reflect on your own year and what it has brought you. Remember God is soooo good and faithful. We look forward to what God has for our family. Just knowing He loves us and will be with us through every situation makes us feel so blessed to be His.

Here is a scripture that was given to me one year ago from a dear friend.
John 11:40 Then Jesus said, "Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?"

03-31-06 Update

We are still at home. Brock continues to do very well. He has been moving around a lot more, getting stronger all the time. He continues to grow and weighs 35.5lbs, wears 4T clothes and just looks wonderful. I looked at him a few days ago and thought something looks different about him. I do not know what it is but I do know it can only be good. Thank you Father.

His head is almost completely healed. And his hair is coming in rather nicely. He still loves to hold my hand and squeeze it. Well, I love it so I am just guessing he loves it just as much.

We do weekly blood work to check on everything. Which all looks great. Praise the Lord!!!

I opened my bible before I started to type this and I opened it to this verse. It meant so much to me I thought I would share it with you. Luke 1:37 "For nothing is impossible with God." Just sit for a second and think about something you desire that seems impossible and ask God.

God is so good all the time!!!!!!!

Please continue to lift us up in prayer. We are in a wonderful position to see great and mighty works of our Father.

Hello to all our faithful friends. I (Barbara), am sorry for not updating sooner. I am very happy to say that life at the Latham house has been rather normal, as odd as that sounds...

The girls have been keeping us busy with their different activities. Bree has just finished cheering and has started track. Keeley is doing gymnastics and helping with Madison's basketball team. Madison is playing her last basketball game this week and has started gymnastics also. All three girls have been doing good in school.

Mr.Brock is doing wonderful. And I believe I am the hardest critic when it comes to how he looks or what he is doing. He just looks AWESOME. Thank you LORD. He continues to move every part of his body. He has been sitting in a chair once a week with help but seems to really like it. We asked him to kick his left foot on Thursday and he did. It was pretty exciting to see him do it. Thank you Lord for the little things that are so big to us. Most of all I love to lay right next to Brock and hold his hand. Just to have his hand in my hand and to have him squeeze it. WOW! What that does to a mother. Brock's head is almost completely healed and his hair in most spots is growing back. We thank you Lord for all that you have done and all that you will do. Now, glory be to God! By his mighty power at work within us, he is able to accomplish infinitely more than we would ever dare to ask or hope. Eph 3:20

Please continue to pray for our family. Remember to thank the Lord for everything and give Him all the glory.

Praises to our King, the Latham house is all well!! Thank you for all your prayers. Kevin and Keeley have been let back into the rest of the house, after battling the flu for a week. They are both feeling wonderful.

Brock is doing well and we are very pleased with the way his head is healing. He is really moving a lot this week. He has been tolerating his feeds, he is on hardly any oxygen. We are lowering his vent settings as he tolerates the changes. And he has been squeezing my hand. Another exciting thing is that he is doing it with the left hand. The neat thing about that is that he didn't really use his left side in the hospital or even when we came home. Thank you Jesus! Brock's PT was at our house and I told her that he was squeezing my hand and she wanted to see him do it. She was very excited, and said that it is a purposeful movement. Again thank you Lord.

I just wanted to remind everyone that we need to all remember to give praises to God for big and little things. Sometimes when we are waiting for something big we forget all the little things he has done.

Here is a scripture for you to read Romans 8:25-30.
May God continue to bless you and give you strength. We feel so blessed that he has brought so many faithful people into our life.

Still Standing on God's Promises,
Barbara and Kevin Latham

3:30AM/ 01-18-06:Thank you all for always being so supportive to our needs. I am so sorry I could not go into details earlier. We do believe that God calls us to depend on HIM first. Believe me we felt the need to hear a familiar voice, a supportive friend, or even just someone to comfort us. But that was not God's plan for us today. He wanted our attention and He wanted to comfort us Himself. You know that when you try to do things or figure things out yourself things just do not flow like they do when you surrender it all to HIM.

GOD IS GOOD ALL THE TIME.. Even in the storm, God is good!!!

I guess now that I have rattled on I will get to what happened today.......... It started out a wonderful day and ended just as wonderful. Around 11am Brock spit up his breakfast and then his O2 sats went really low, we tried for a few hours to get them back up with no luck. Then finally around 2pm they went into a normal range. Around 2:30, he then spit up again 2 more times. This time we tried everything to get his O2 sats up and we were unable too. His O2 sats were dangerously low but nothing could be done medically. You see we had him on as much oxygen that the tanks could deliver 10L per minute. Which is very high. So we prayed and waited. Around 10:30PM his O2 sats moved into a normal range. Praise the Lord!!

We now know that Brock has the stomach bug. When he threw up he aspirated some of it causing his O2 sats to go down. At this time no one else in the house has the bug.

We are very careful with people coming in and out but now we need to be even more. We enjoy all visitors but ask that if you have been sick or have been around someone that has been sick, please just call or e-mail us. We do love phone calls and love to read e-mails. And as always love to see people just remember Brock doesn't need a bug...

Please continue to pray for our family and seek God for how to pray for us. Thank you for all the support and may God Bless You.

The Latham Family

CHRISTMAS 2005

01-12-2006 UPDATE
We are still at home. Brock continues to do very well, although he has not woke up yet. Still moving around, growing, does open his eye lids from time to time. Occasionally he gets a little puffy from extra fluid but all in all, he looks great.

A couple of weeks ago while doing some routine blood checks, some of the results looked like he had an infection somewhere. Brock's Dr. started checking things out when probably a week later, a bump pops up on his head. It continued to grow and then one of the bumps friends moves in next door. Anyway the thing kept growing and probably got to the size of a golf ball and stuck out from his head about an inch. Our Dr came by, to take a look and he told us he thought it was a boil caused by a staph infection. He was started on antibiotics and several days later the thing finally ruptured. The Brock's Dr sent us to a wound Dr here in Abilene and he cut off the bad skin and cleaned it up a bit. It was then revealed that the wound had compromised his bone, making a small hole in his skull. We clean and dress it often, trying to keep the area clean. The Dr has given us instructions to let nobody touch his head.

The wound, now six days later looks good. It is pink, has a good blood flow and looks healthy. Brock's Dr came by and looked at it Monday night and he thought it (the hole and the wound)looked smaller. Looks that way to us as well.
Please continue to lift us up in prayer. We are in a wonderful position to see great and mighty works of our Father.

Love you all. Miss seeing you. Kevin and Barbara
